Test Footage

'Ted of Hell' is a short 5 minute Thriller Produced and Directed by Nicole and Alfie Loveday. The film is a great example of Test Footage because it involves experimentation of Camera angles, Shot types, Lighting, and Sound. This specific bedroom was chosen because it is located in the same house as to where the final project 'Trapped in Silence' will be filmed, therefore these shots involve location scouting as well as Test Footage. The Lighting and Sound in this bedroom would give a rough idea of what the colour scheme and volume in 'Trapped and Silence' would be like. Premier Pro however, was used to edit together all the footage and adapt brightness, saturation and sound to a darker tone considering the film is mostly in the dark. A few sound effects were added to this movie, I discovered them from a website: https://freesound.org/home/ These were added to provide some suspense to the movie, as there is a few horror jump scares included when the bear moves position. Ketchup was used as 'blood' from when the Killer Bear supposedly stabbed the main characters brother, and the knife in the bears hand was the only prop used. The acting was not the best, however it is great just for Test Footage, as it was mainly filmed to focus more on the lighting, colour scheme, camera shots, angles, and editing rather than the acting itself. Overall this thriller/ slightly horror movie was fun to edit, some scenes were fascinating  and extraordinary. 'Ted of Hell' was filmed over the course of 3 hours and was edited within 2 hours. The target audience for this footage would be young adults, similar to 'Trapped in Silence', however mainly over 15's would be more suited to watch this because of the jump scares and high pitch sound effects.

As well as 'Ted of Hell', some more test footage was filmed that relates to the final project 'Trapped in Silence.'

This footage was filmed as a medium close-up on an iPhone camera. The purpose of this shot was to experiment for one of the opening scenes of the movie, when Isabel splashes her face with water before walking downstairs.

This scene was striking because it shows the character Isabel walking downstairs, although she was filmed through a mirror rather than the camera pointing directly to her, this was to attract audiences attention as it is a unique shot.

Following on from the footage above, the purpose of this short clip was to show a POV shot of Isabel walking into her kitchen before making a cup of tea.

This clip was a unique experimentation. The camera was placed inside the cupboard so when Isabel opens the door to reach for a cup, you can see her face, it makes you feel as if you were trapped inside the cupboard yourself, almost the opposite of a POV shot. To improve this scene for next time, the camera needed to be lower as only the top half of the characters face is shown, making it a medium close-up shot, when really it needed to be just a medium shot.

The final piece of test footage presents a full shot of Chris getting out his car, shutting the door and walking up to the house before letting himself in. This was captured on a Canon 1300d camera and is similar to a tracking shot.
