Editing Styles and Techniques

When ‘Trapped In Silence’ is completed, the footage will be edited using the software ‘Premiere Pro’ because it is the best Adobe editing software. Due to my mountain of research within the topic of Domestic violence, I have chosen to experiment with cinematic colour grading using a dark purple theme, due to the fact that the domestic abuse awareness ribbon colour is purple. Colour grading is a crucial part of editing because colours can represent the tone of the film. Colour grading can be used to denote mood, character and time. Considering a colour look for a creative project before production is an essential part of any process. My film will be edited in ‘Linear style’ meaning the story follows in order. There will also be some ‘Cross Cutting’ editing involved between the different characters ‘Point of View’ shot. In film editing, crosscutting describes the video editing technique of switching back and forth between scenes.
